Modern day Iro and Buba

Move over velvet, move over lace, silk and chiffon are IN... Every year in Nigeria we see trend shifts with our traditional party wear, this usually dictates the "aso-ebi" trend for any particular season. This year it seems there will be lots of silk and chiffon to go round, but we are not mad about that.

Our ready-to-wear wrapper and buba are from FASHPA and are quite affordable @N6, 500 a set... We definitely love pocket-friendly goodies, don't you?

Lady Biba - Charmaine Wrap Top

It has been a while since i did a Work Chic post and this top really deserved one.

I wore this to work today and from the moment I walked into the office, I was getting compliments from everyone, I'm serious. At a point, I was trying not to make eye contact, because I started feeling shy. loool. Just trying to explain the effect this top has on people.

The first time I saw it, I had no doubts that it belonged in my wardrobe. None!.I sharply sent an email to Lady Biba and two days after it was mine. I had been saving it for months and making excuses not to wear it yet, like "I dont have the right hairstyle for it" (Does anyone else do that?), till I decided to wear it today.

Trending - Wide Leg Pants

The wide leg pants are slowly creeping back in and I am more than happy to embrace it... I literally lived in my silk wide leg pants over the holidays, it is soooo comfortable... Everything about the wide leg pants scream "freedom" to me... Is anyone loving this 70s trend too?

Inspiration: Celine

My dear people, if you are a Nigerian and you have never seen this print, you either: 1. Do not live in Nigeria; 2. Did not go to boarding school or; 3. Do not leave your house.

You can imagine my surprise/excitement when Celine's Fall 2013 Collection came out and lo and behold it was 'Ghana Must Go' inspired (no offense to our Ghanaian brothers, you know we have love for you). For our non-Nigerian readers, here in Nigeria ''Ghana Must Go'' bags are plastic carryall bags made in this print and are sold in almost every corner of town. You will most likely find a Ghana Must Go bag in 1 out of 5 homes in Nigeria. Why they are called that is a story for another day.

Anyway, back to my excitement. Shortly after the Celine Collection came out, I stumbled across this dress and I sharply snapped it up.
I wore it out a while back and kept getting called '''Ghana Must Go girl'. This print is definitely a head turner, literally.

A sunny Abu Dhabi morning

Happy New Yearrrrrrr... I wish you all a beautiful year ahead, go kick ass this year like me guys ;o) ... I had an amazing holiday, my christmas lunch was everything I hoped and much more, time with family is always the best time :o) ... I also got to spend my new year in Abu-Dhabi and Dubai with family and it was all kinds of awesome.

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is one of the many wonders of the UAE and the tourist in me definitely wanted to see everything, I mean why bother travelling if you can't get snaps of these places right??? Weird as I've found the religious motif trend made popular by Dolce & Gabbana in 2013, I think its kind of cool... Considering that I am trying to remain "cool" for as long as I possibly can,  I did not hesitate to snap up this dress at DOS clothing store in Ikoyi. DOS clothing store has got some great pieces and you should definitely check them out, their instagram account is dosclothingstore

Dress - dosclothingstore, Bag - Lulu Guiness, Shoes - YSL, Earrings - Mango

Cheers to the weekend guys.

Vamp

Hey everyone, Happy New Year once again!!. Remember my quest to find the perfect full skirt and how I finally found this one. Well, it wasn't as easy as it sounded. It took several emails and more than 3 weeks before the skirt was finally delivered. I had literally given up on ever getting it, when at the last minute my brother sent me a message saying he had received a package for me. Anyway, to cut the long story short, instead of waiting for maybe eternity, I decided to take matters into my own hands and make one since my mind was dead set on wearing one for the wedding.

This skirt was made by a lovely up and coming designer, Tiara by Tutu  (we can call her TBT right..lool). I kept pestering her throughout as she was my only hope, or so I thought. Sadly, I ended up wearing the red skirt because it was Christmas time and my second eye (aka Salewa) said it was more ''wedding appropriate''.

I've been itching to wear it since I got it, so I paired it with this sheer blouse and dark lipstick and voila! I was ready to be cast in Vampire Diaries (maybe as Bonnie's replacement)..lol.

Don't worry Caro is somewhere down there :)
